Amie McLain leaves Channel 8 News to go into full

According to an updated report on ABC Channel 8 News on Jan. 16, anchor Amie McLain leaves "Good Morning Richmond" to fulfill her passion for full time ministry. She first mentioned she was leaving on Jan. 8, and has been keeping viewers updated on her actual departure date.

Amie has been with the news station for six years. Because of her style and devotion to her job, viewers hate to see her go, but the young woman has a strong passion for ministry. In fact, she leaves the station on Friday, and departs for India on Monday for two weeks of mission work.

Amie will serve as executive media director at her church, Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries in Chesterfield, Virginia. This opportunity will allow her more time to devote to her faith, church and missionary trips. It’s also paving the way for Amie and her husband to start their own church one day.

Amie joined WRIC in 2009, and has worked as a reporter, morning anchor and ambassador for the station in the community. Amie’s replacement is Amanda Malkowski who will take over anchor duties on "Good Morning Richmond" and 8NewsAt9 on Monday, Jan. 19.

Amanda brings her own style to the news desk. She is full of energy, has a pleasing personality, a positive attitude and a passion for news. Amanda has been with the station for less than a year. She comes to Richmond from Lansing, Michigan where she was a reporter and anchor at WILX. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in journalism with a concentration in political science.

Amie promised that she will still stop by the station and will join the staff in their weekly Friday woop woop on "Good Morning Richmond." She will keep her Facebook page and Twitter account associated with Channel 8 News.

It was a bittersweet morning when Aime left. She worked closely with Morgan Dean and Matt DiNardo. Both men sobbed during her final moments. In fact, Morgan had to be consoled by Aime.
